Now To The 2008 Reunion
The 2008 Haverfield DE/DER reunion will be in Branson, Missouri. The dates are March 31 to April 03, 2008. We have reserved one of the finest hotels in Branson---the Grand Plaza Hotel--- the hotel specializes in military reunions and have assured us that they will go ALL OUT to make our reunion as great success.
Check in time is 10:00 am on the 31st of March but we have special rates for three days prior and three days after our reunion. So, feel free to come early or stay longer.
We need EVERYONE to be checked in and be ready TO GO! by noon on the 31st on March. We are starting the reunion with a BANG! A bus will transport the crew and family to the "Boat Landing" of the "Branson Belle".....Yep! You better have your sea legs because we are setting sea and anchor detail and are getting underway for a dinner cruise aboard the Branson Belle. We set sea detail at 1600 and will enjoy a catered dinner and twilight cruise.
We will ALL fall in on the pier at 3:30 pm for a short memorial service for former crew members who have passed on. This honor is being presented by the City of Branson and a wreath of flowers will be laid in their memory. A Haverfieldcrew member will be chosen to say a few words.
After the dinner cruise is over, transportation will be provided back to the Grand Plaza Hotel. Every evening a hospitality room will be provided for us to gather and just "hang out" in. We will be provided with a coffee pot, ice machine, microwave and a TV with DVD player. The room will be locked after we have called it "quits" for the night. The next morning it will be reopened for us-- cleaned and ready to go.
The following day, April 01,2008.....at 09:15, a bus will transport us to the Starlight theater. There we will enjoy a presentation of :Lost in the 50's with the Platters" at 10:00 am. A luncheon buffet will follow after the show.
Folks, we have to eat breakfast EARLY that day!
After our return to the Grand Plaza Hotel from the 50's show, the crew of the Haverfield will have a business meeting in the hospitality room "CREW LOUNGE" at 1400 hrs. We want to elect a president and other officers for our association. There will also be discussion on the future reunions and other plans. Rick Ainsworth will be the monitor at this meeting. Our goal is to be organized for our association. The rest of the day is free time.
NOW FOR THE HAVERFIELD LADIES
Sylvia Hammond will host the Haverfield Ladies Tea. Right now the plan is....1:00 pm in the hospitality room on April 02,2008. This will be a time for the wives of the Haverfield men to get to know each other and share thoughts.....
Do we want to "do something" to make a difference? Let's think about it. I think we should all have a time to share what is important to us at this time in our lives.
We are going to have a gift exchange at our Haverfield Ladies Aux. Tea. I am bring with me enough gift tote paper bags for all the ladies attending the tea. These totes are 8.5 by 10.5 inches.
I am thinking a gift of a cookbook is a MUST! Let's make it a regional cookbook from where we live. Fill the bag with things that are special that you have found.
Two items are a must----one is a Christmas tree ornament that is made locally and the second "must" is something wonderful that you found at a thrift shop. It could be a old sugar bowl that you ran across at a garage sale.... remember the butter pat tiny plates? Something like that.
By locally it could be your state as well. Maybe your mother-n-law has an old dolly that she doesn't want anymore and you could include that in the gift bag.
Girls, think of the after Thanksgiving and Christmas sales....napkins....so much goes on sale.
Any questions contact Bill Hammond.
We need a good count of those who are going to attend. Remember, we need your money by Dec. 2007!
